It should go pretty smoothly. The whole process is pretty much as complicated as copy and paste. If you've never made a map in UDK, then you might have issues, but the setup itself is pretty easy.

Yes, I got it to work following the video instructions. The map I have is actually the Raindance heightmap from T1.

That will be interesting with PFF skiing.

nice, but what about its size ? map might be unfit for PFF physics.
ruining all the fun for the old tribers who cant wait to experience some old maps.

Wow it's been a long time since I've played that map. I've wanted to remake something of a Desert of Death for PFF.

As for the map and PFF physics, the only issue I could see is map size. PFF tends to play pretty quick, so I could see the map needing to be enlarged a bit.

I've always thought it would be cool to have a large underground complex under that middle hill; thought it would would be cool to have another route for flag traffic. As long as the underground portion wasn't too confined, the chases would probably be pretty crazy.

when you say underground complex, that tribes vengence cave map comes into mind.
so i searched for some smooth caves and found pictures of caves with very smooth and what looks like to be skii-friendly surfaces.

(obviously these are very narrow but you could allways scale em to fit.)
skii inside caves would be soo nice :)

/edit the name of that cave is called "slot cave"

Its funny you linked some slot canyons. A while back I hiked the Zion Narrows and thought it would be great to design a game map around.

Zion Narrows Image Search: http://goo.gl/SF3Oy

Because vertical and overhead surfaces can be used for carving and jumping, caves and narrows enable more movement options.

Eventually I would like to give mappers the ability to make two sided maps. An idea I have is to connect the two sides of a map with what look like holes in the map, but actually allow you to get to the other side of the map. If the map was shaped like a big coin, a mountain on one side might be a valley on the other.

i saw some images of zions narrow too but i though the one with the most curvature would be more appealing.

Two sided maps are an interesting idea. However, I would find a map that is a fully underground cave system much more interesting. Because of the rather 360 nature of PFF movement, this would work quite well. Lower the gravity a bunch and make the map a large cavern system. That'd make for some rather interesting gameplay.

Heck, if you give the player even more freedom in movement by making it so that the direction your jets push you in is completely dependent on the way you are oriented, you could even implement maps in open space like shattered horizon. (Also, having player orientation dependent jets is a feature I'd love regardless, just for general gameplay. Would allow for a bit more freedom in which way you are jetting. Jets already push you in the way you're looking horizontally, why not make this apply for all directions?)
